Music

I enjoy music. When I say that, I mean both listening to songs as well as playing them. I own a keyboard that I regularly practice with, and during high school, I was in a music school that booked us for rock performances as well as taught me to play and perform better. The video below is the one I submitted with my Barrett application, and it shows a compilation of many of my performances. There are some cool pictures below as well.

I’ve enjoyed playing an instrument since 6th grade when (for everyone’s required music class) I started playing the clarinet. I quickly got the hang of playing my scales and songs and by the end of middle school, I made it to 1st chair in my school’s Symphonic Band.

Since my STEAM high school did not offer any music classes nor did it have a band, I had to look elsewhere. That’s when I found this unique school, School of Rock, where For four years, I was in a rock band playing keys.

Playing music is not the only interaction I have with the art. I listen to songs on my playlist daily as well. My favorite genres are 80s rock, pop, and musicals. Over the two years I have had my playlist on Spotify, I have accumulated over 925 songs, and to listen to the entire thing would take just shy of three whole days! Some people like to have their playlist capped at 200 songs, but I like when I don’t hear the same song twice for multiple days.
